Applications and Services Manager

 

MISSION

The Applications and Services Manager is responsible for the definition, development, quality, delivery and the operations of the applications and companion tools. He/she collaborates regularly with the other internal (intra BU) managers, in particular with the Platform and Service Manager, to strength the overall operations and growth of the Business Unit. He/she has also external stakeholders, mainly related to the HMS organisation. He/she reports to the Head of R&D. The Applications and Services Manager is the Product Owner of the current and future application and owns the technical vision of the long-term development.

ROLE AND RESPONSABILITIES

  • Develop/Define/Formulate the technical aspects of the applications development’s strategy to ensure alignment with its business goals, communicated by stakeholders.
  • Take decisions regarding the development strategies and prioritizes execution to meet the business goals.
  • Ensure improvement and scale-up of our applications to meet the needs of the customers.
  • Ensure that the high standards in terms of quality, security, ease of use required by the company are met both in development cycles and in operations of the applications.
  • Establish the yearly development roadmap in collaboration with the R&D Manager and the Product Managers.
  • Collaborate with the Platform Service Manager to ensure the consistency of the development plans and the adequate testing of the new developments.
  • Maintain knowledge of current technology landscape and new development trends.
  • Manage the Applications team, consisting of developers, overseeing day-to-day operations, resource planning, and prioritization of his team, giving the means to the collaborators so that they can achieve their goals.
  • Gather the inputs of the stakeholders (other R&D teams, Product Management team) to help establish the priorities.
  • Ensure that team milestones/goals/commitment are met.
  • Coache and work on the development of his team members to ensure that their competencies, skills and know-how are used and developed in the best possible manner.
  • Create and manage the yearly budget of the team.
  • Negotiate with subcontracting firms and key suppliers in case of external development/offshoring.
  • Ensure that team members comply with ISMS security policies.
  • Participate, on request, part time in cross-functional projects and transversal BU projects.
  • Support the success of others and help them reach their goals.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree in engineering or computer science
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in the field of applications development and people management
  • Good Knowledge of clouds concepts
  • Good knowledge of Agile process and principles
  • Enthusiasm for technology
  • Languages: English & French
